I would like to create a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013 for a list in a site on SharePoint online and one of the action would be to send an e-mail to the manager of the user that created an item in a list.

How can I get the manager of the user and then use it to send an e-mail?

I'm using Content By Query WebPart which uses XSLT to display it's values.

On the list is placed field with iternal name: "Insurance_x0020_number"

In ".webpart" file I'm having:

        <property name="CommonViewFields" type="string">Title;Created;AssignedTo;Insurance_x0020_number;WorkflowName;DueDate</property>

        <property name="DataColumnRenames" type="string">Title;Created;AssignedTo;Insurance_x0020_number;WorkflowName;DueDate</property>

In XSLT I have:

 <xsl:value-of select="@Created" /> 

<xsl:value-of select="@Title" />

<xsl:value-of select="@DueDate" />

which works fine, and 

 <xsl:value-of select="@Insurance_x0020_number"/>

which is not displaying nothing.

I made test with other fields, and it looks like, if there is "_x0020_" in internal name, XSLT is not displaying it's values, where fileds with out it works just fine.

Is there a way to solve this riddle?

A colleague and I have created a SharePoint Designer 2013 list workflow that runs whenever a document library item is updated.

When we check the workflow history for the document library items, the workflow completes successfully. However, it fills up the Event Log (under Applications and Services - Microsoft-Workflow - Operational) with several entries per minute.

I've tried to track down the error myself and have worked with Microsoft Premier Support on it, but we can't figure out what could be happening. The error message is:

 Have any of you seen this error before? Any help is appreciated.

I am interested in having multiple people approve forms.  The user will select the approvers using a people picker (tied to our active directory.)  I would like to know if it is possible to have the form be approved my multiple people at the same time, instead of a daisy chain. 

There will be a maximum of 5 approvers, but may only have 1. 

Can someone get me pointed in the right direction please.

When I run my form using getuserprofilebyname inside infopath designer, it functions properly (I have rules that have it populate current user, and have people pickers.  Both work great.) 
When I publish the form to SharePoint, I get the error "An error occurred while trying to connect to a Web service."  After clicking okay, the current user won't populate, yet the people pickers still function.

I have tried using a SOAP data connection and also tried using a udcx saved in the same site collection.  Both have the exact same issue.

What can I do to fix this?

I have a calendar where i have enabled the option as allow team mates to add to the calendar.

now when i add i can see my team mate's details but when i refresh all of them disappears...why?

I have a lookup column that allows multiple selections (i.e. Slider Box).  I am trying to find a way to manipulate the contents of the left hand box (possible values) based on other criteria.  I am able to programmatically move items from the left box to the right (and vice versa) and also remove items from the left hand box.  But I can't figure out the syntax to simply add a new option in the left hand box.

In lists where I'm using a custom infopath form word-wrapping is not happening just a spaces in IE. Textarea elements within my form are being assigned the style attribute "white-space:pre" and this causes IE to behave that way. In Firefox the lines are being wrapped sensibly at spaces.

Can this be changed anywhere in InfoPath or SharePoint? I can't believe everyone is experiencing this. This doesn't happen on rich text fields however - nor in a calculated field that is displaying the same text that my text area is.

I'm new to SharePoint in general. I tried to do some selfstudy in order to come up with the "best" way to create forms for a SharePoint 2013 on premises farm.
Microsoft encouraged us, begin this year, to use InfoPath 2013 untill they made a next generation form technology.
I have found some opportunities with Excell and access, does that mean the next generation is already there and I should use that? As you can see, I'm confused on that Microsoft wants me to do..
Does anyone have a clear idea on what Microsoft recommends right now?

I need this information to decide how I'm going create forms in a SharePoint 2013 on premises.
If you are not sure about Microsofts vision, but you have confidence in your solution to create forms, please share.

Who made the bright decision not to include the design view in SPD 2013?

That just wipes out most of the Power Users out there. 

Does someone have another option?

I can't believe that Microsoft would neglect so many SPD users who do not have a programming background.

I have recently installed workflow manger 1.o on my single sharepoint server and tried to create a workflow using SharePoint designer  from another machine with some user who have admin access on sharepoint server. I am able to create the sharepoint 2013 workflow and publish it. No errors on the SharePoint designer UI. When I open the list from browser and check for the work flow ,sharepint 2013 workflows are not listed. I checked the event logs for workflow manager and found that there is an error while publishing(but not shown on SPDesigner2013), I have checked for solutions on the web and cross checked all my workflows manger settings, SharePoint services settings and everything seems good.

The error I am seeing in the event logs :

I have tried many solutions suggested for similar issues earlier  but no luck..if any one help with some solution I would like to try..........

Here are the steps to replicate the issue I’m having when adding lists.asmx or any other SharePoint web service in InfoPath 2013. This web service opens fine in the browser from my desktop. My account is a farm administrator and is added to the web application’s User Policy.  I can use these services just fine using Nintex 2013 Workflow.

1. Open InfoPath Designer 2013.
2. Select Blank Form and click Design Form button.
3. Click “Data” tab.
4. Click “From Web Service” and select “From SOAP Web Service”

1. Enter https://mysiteurl.com/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL for the web service definition.
2. Click Next.
3. Windows Security window pops up.
4. Enter a credential. I tried both my account and the farm account. My account is a farm admin and is added to the web application’s User Policy with Full Control.
5. Click OK. It prompts for credential multiple times.
6. I get below this error messages: 

Sorry, we couldn't open https://mysiteurl.com/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL
InfoPath cannot find or cannot access the specified Web Service description.
The file is not a valid XML file.
Not enough storage is available to process this command.

We have a project that is in need of these services using InfoPath so any help is greatly appreciated.

is it possible to create External List from External Content Type to access Lists from different Site Collections? I am able to create Data Source. I tried to create External Data Type from that Data Source, but there are only WCF Services, not SOAP. I would like to use standard SOAP /_vti_bin/lists.asmx

I am looking for an adequate to SQL Database External Content Type for duplex update.

SharePoint 2010 (Single App Server/Single DB Server).

The Search feature in our environment is not working. In review of the Search Service App I found that the Index Partition - 0 is in a "Not Responding" mode. (attached image)

When I click on ANY of the links under the Crawling section in the left panel I get correlation errors that (at least too me) do not point to anything (attached image of errors)

I have read that the Search Service has replaced Search Service Foundation. Thusly I killed the Fouondation Search (as suggested) in Services as well as in Central Administration. I then ran an iisreset and this did noting - I still cannot access anything under Crawling. I a

l also tried to stop the search with the following commands - which did not work either.

stsadm -o osearch -action stop

Seems there is no way to stop the current Crawl without bouncing the Server.

Any suggestions?
