Using items from a List in a different SharePoint Site

Hello everyone,

I've been assigned with a task to connect or transport list items from one SharePoint site to another. We have our timekeeping on one SharePoint site and a list with project data in another. But we want our project numbers available in a dropdown in the timekeeping fromular.

Up until now I've tried external conent types and content type hub, but with no real progress.

I hope that someone can help me.
